Current Sculpture Studies

Investigation overview

I didn't realize until I began cataloging my photo reel that I had been subconsciously developing an investigation of things I hold dear: snuggling under crocheted blankets with my kids, sourcing new dance shoes to replace the torn, stacks of fabric showcasing patterns beyond their fibers, art installations locally and abroad, hotel spaces that live on in vivid memory with their eclectic furnishings, fabric construction through quilted connections, luxurious plush bedding, needlepoint reimagined in iconic Round Top, TX, clay fashion, a vintage lace wedding dress married with tired worn leather boots. Ideas unveiled...perhaps ones that have been there all along, as if the very fibers of my being were woven together one thread at a time. What if clay could mimic the fabric of our lives to become a sort of monument to the textural memory? So began this investigation of sculptural studies.

Materials & Processes

Materials include a variety of lace and fabric, threads and forms. Cone 5 Cinco Blanco clay, fired and unfired. Wedged underglaze slip for color. Slab construction and press mold processes utilized for creating textural mimicry homage to images captured in memory.
